Carpet cleaning is a very competitive industry, and pricing, like most things, is subject to supply and demand.
The average home has about 1000 square feet (sq ft) of carpet. The national average for carpet cleaning costs on this size home is $.30/sq ft, which brings the actual carpet cleaning cost to $300.
If you happen to have more carpet than a typical home, you are likely to get a per sq ft discount, since your home is a bigger job. However, cleaning carpet costs (per square foot) will go up if you have less. We still have to drive out to your house, unroll all of our hoses, set up our equipment, do the work, and then break it all back down. This takes time, so don't feel that you are being ripped off if your price per square foot is higher than your neighbors. This is an industry standard.
You Get What You Pay For
Many companies will try to lure you into using their service by hiding, or not disclosing all of their pricing. Make sure when bidding out carpet cleaning that you are comparing apples to apples. For instance, some carpet cleaners charge extra for deoderizer, which is a standard part of our service. Almost all companies have different pricing based on whether or not they are moving furniture in a home. Some companies include spot treatment as part of their pricing, others do not. Make sure you know exactly what you are buying before you go with the cheapest guys in town. You really do get what you pay for in carpet cleaning.
